FLEXIBLE BENEFITS

Wiggin launches flexible benefits

Wiggin LLP, a specialist media law firm, has recently introduced flexible benefits for its Cheltenham-based employees.

Since the majority of Wiggin’ s clients are UK or US listed, the firm felt it was important to offer its employees a "cutting-edge benefits package, whilst also offering the lifestyle attraction of living in Cheltenham".

As Wiggin recruits employees in a "fiercely competitive environment", it wanted to implement flexible benefits to differentiate the firm from competitors in the legal sector where flex is rarely offered.

The package

Wiggin offers employees:

  • Flexible benefits -- including private medical insurance, pension, childcare vouchers, holiday, and tax-free bicycles
  • Core benefits -- such as life cover and permanent health insurance
  • Voluntary benefits -- offering employees discounts on a range of products and services, including gym membership, eye care vouchers, dental insurance, financial health check, personal loans, holidays, travel insurance, spa days, wine club and baby products.

The firm now plans to develop the scheme and will be adding a tax-free PC option in the next few months.

To design and implement the flexible benefits scheme, it chose thomsons online benefits. thomsons has implemented its Perquisite software, branded in keeping with the Wiggin corporate identity to enable employees to select and enrol into their benefits, and then to view and manage them on an ongoing basis.

A final word

"The most striking thing for me about the launch of this project has been the clarity now available to employees regarding the range of benefits available to them. Offering a cutting edge package that is flexible will help in our bid to attract and retain the talent that we need to sustain our business growth." -- John Banister, chief operating officer, Wiggin.
