Recognition schemes are inadequate – Totem

Almost half (45%) of UK employees are not satisfied with current workplace recognition programmes, with those in the travel and transport sector most disgruntled, according to new research commissioned by reward app developer, Totem. ‘It’s blinkered to assume that employees are solely motivated by transactional rewards, such as salaries or bonuses. Appreciation and recognition is an even more powerful tool, with a “thank you” or “well done” speaking volumes and leaving a lasting impression with employees.’

Totem believes there is a huge opportunity for leaders to redefine the way they run their businesses and to reset the employer-employee relationship, particularly given its research finding that only 10% of employees are fully satisfied with their current job.
