Poor management causing huge dissatisfaction in British workplaces

Workplace disaffection is costing the UK economy billions of pounds each year through high absence levels, low productivity and poor employee relations, according to a new Gallup survey.

The survey found that the vast majority of British workers — more than four out of five — lack any real commitment to their jobs. A quarter of those are actively disengaged — in short, they are truly disaffected.

Blame it on poor management

The single most important reason why so many employees are disengaged is poor management, says Gallup. Workers say they don’ t know what is expected of them, their managers don’ t care about them as people, they are not well suited to their jobs, and their views count for little.
