Pearl Group unveils new flex package

Pearl Group has launched a new flexible benefits package for its life company and corporate office staff based in the UK. The scheme is called “Flexit” and has been developed by Vebnet, a provider of rewards and benefits services.

A complete benefits package is a new departure for the group. Previously, staff were offered a limited range of benefits, including childcare vouchers, pension, life cover and medical insurance.

Flexit

Flexit has been tailored specifically for Pearl’s employees and has been split into three distinct areas:

  • Lifestyle benefits - including holiday buy/sell, travel insurance plus childcare and retail vouchers, including Shopping Gateway.

  • Health benefits - including dental cover, health screening, PMI and hospital cash plan.

  • Security benefits - including life assurance and critical illness.

Employees can access all of the benefits online through a dedicated web site or via the Vebnet helpline.

Communications programme

As a brand new initiative, the group spent a considerable amount of time engaging staff with an initial communication introducing the scheme followed by brochures and a poster campaign during the “election” period. This was supplemented by articles in the company magazine, intranet messages, and a Vebnet presentation at the two main office locations with “drop in” sessions at other sites.

Lynne Weller, Group Reward Manager for Pearl Group, said:

“The communication exercise was rewarded with an excellent response rate with nearly three-quarters of staff logging onto the system, and over half submitting elections.” Every benefit offered has been taken up by staff with holiday buy/sell proving most popular, followed by critical illness cover and childcare vouchers."

Weller added: “The benefits we provide obviously play an important role in helping us attract, retain and motivate the best possible people. We recognise that everyone is different and by introducing ‘Flexit’ we have given our employees more control and the opportunity to select the benefits that suit their personal circumstances and lifestyle.”
