Pay floor to rise to £4.50 in October 2003

The government has announced that the national minimum wage will increase from £4.20 an hour to £4.50 in October 2003.

The rate for 18-21 year olds will rise from £3.60 to £3.80. This follows recommendations made in the Low Pay Commission's fourth report, published in March 2003.
