Online flex system is providing strong recruitment and motivation results for Fujitsu

A new online flexible benefits programme at Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe is helping the company with its recruitment drive.

The 4th Contact system was implemented in July 2003 and is branded internally as Passport. Kathryn Dolan, HR project manager of Fujitsu, explains, "We’ re currently gaining significant new business. To support this we’ re going through a hefty recruitment drive and are looking for people at fairly senior levels with experience in leading-edge technology. There’ s a shortage of these people, but we’ re finding that Passport is helping significantly. Feedback tells us that our whole reward package is a big incentive for good people to join."

Motivation has also improved with the implementation of the system, according to Dolan. "Since adopting online flex with 4th Contact, there’ s been a positive shift in our perception as an employer. The inconsistencies have been eliminated and now people can see a transparent and equitable reward structure. There are many less pay-focused debates amongst employees."
Fujitsu is continually developing the online flex system. Leave tracking has been added, for instance, which eases HR and management headaches and the technology has also been specially developed so the company can work around a 15-month leave year.
