Manual processing dominates HR effort – Access Group

The HR function is still ‘way off’ putting technology at the heart of what it does, according to a survey of around 200 professionals. For example, 43% of HR functions still use manual processing for performance appraisals and 54% for recruitment. This is despite 63% of survey respondents agreeing that using technology on a daily basis as part of performance management would be a valuable business tool, particularly as more organisations move towards continuous evaluation and away from the traditional annual performance review.

As many as 70% of organisations are likely to use continuous evaluation of employees rather than annual performance reviews and 80% of the professionals surveyed agreed that this method has the potential to be more valuable than traditional annual reviews.

Rob Grimes, a product manager at Access Group, commissioner of the research, said:

‘As more organisations strive to excel in their ability to recruit and retain the right people for the right job roles, they are under increasing pressure to ensure their HR processes are effective so that employees feel informed, motivated and valued.’
