IDS unveils revamped pay analysis

Incomes Data Services has launched a new and enhanced version of its pay settlement analysis in the latest issue of IDS Pay Report.

Alastair Hatchett, editor of IDS Pay Report, said: "We are already acknowledged to be the prime source of information on pay settlements in the UK and the presentation of the data has been improved to meet the needs of reward managers, economists, the Bank of England, Government departments, employers' organisations and the trade unions."

The new presentation of the data allows the reader to follow the median and inter-quartile ranges of pay settlements in each rolling three-month period. In addition, each month IDS will include a sector focus, looking at recent pay deals in a particular industry in the latest issue it examines developments in the car industry.

Latest analysis

The latest IDS analysis is based on 327 pay settlements effective in 2004, altogether covering some 3.8 million employees. The median (mid-point) settlement level in the three months to April is as follows:

  • whole economy: 3%.
  • manufacturing: 3%
  • private services: 3%
  • public sector: 3%
