How to introduce flex

You might have imagined that when the hard times hit, flexible benefits plans would be swept away. Absolutely not, argues Chad Daugherty of Hewitt Associates, writing in a recent edition of People Management magazine. Not only does flex help organisations gain control over total compensation costs, it is a "vital weapon in the war for talent".

What you will find in this report

In this two-page "How to" guide, Daugherty, who is a senior consultant in Hewitt's flexible benefits design team, warns that before jumping on the flex bandwagon, you will need to conduct a feasibility study. His six-point plan focuses on:

  • analysing current provision
  • assessing the market
  • looking at your business context.

The guide also examines the main reasons why organisations flex the pros and cons of "insourcing versus outsourcing" and the most common ingredients on the flex menu.
