Equal pay initiatives in higher education

A partnership deal between higher education employers and unions has paved the way for what is believed to be the first ever sector-wide approach to equal pay reviews, according to a recent issue of Equal Opportunities Review.

The fledgling single negotiating committee covering around 210,000 workers in higher education - everyone from porters to professors - has already achieved a notable agreement on equal pay audits and has merged 10 previous pay spines onto a single interim structure.
