Bikes for work launched at BDO Stoy Hayward

A healthy lifestyle and the impact of travel choices on our environment are of growing importance in the modern day workplace. With this in mind, accountant and business adviser BDO Stoy Hayward has introduced its Bikes for Work scheme which offers employees savings on purchasing bicycles, so they can cycle to work each day.

The scheme is part of the firm’s flexible benefits arrangements and as well as income tax and national insurance savings, it allows staff the opportunity to spread the cost of the bike over 12 months. BDO Stoy Hayward will also be passing the VAT savings on to the employee, enabling total savings of up to 50% to be made, while the firm will provide a free cycle helmet to employees involved with the scheme.

Taking effect at the start of December last year, the new arrangements follow BDO's announcement to become carbon neutral with effect from 1 July 2007.

A final word

“Bikes for work is a fantastic way of allowing our staff to maintain healthy lifestyles and reduce their carbon footprint. The firm is committed to offering staff the best possible work life balance and this scheme is another positive step towards that.” - Rebecca Moss runs the bikes for work scheme at BDO Stoy Hayward and is part of the firms benefits team.
