Majority of UK companies offer non-cash reward and recognition to employees – IRF

The vast majority of UK organisations use non-cash and recognition programmes to promote desired behaviors among their employees. What's more, many of these business report growth and anticipate increased investments in their recognition programmes. Most currently offer group and individual incentive travel; half offer merchandise, and many offer prepaid and digital rewards. These are some of the main findings to emerge from an online survey by the Incentive Research Foundation of 100 'organisational stakeholders', conducted in April 2016.

Among the key results are the following:

  • Within companies using non-cash rewards, the majority (81%) offer non-cash employee reward and recognition.
  • Seven in ten (71%) companies report employee reward and recognition budgets of less than £100,000.
  • Common objectives include improving productivity, morale, and innovation.
  • In the coming year, UK firms plan to increase their use of debit/prepaid gift cards and increase their merchandise selection. Some plan to add travel and experiences as options.
