|
|
One of our readers has been asked to look at reducing the length of pay ranges from the current seven pay points to four, over a two or three-year period. Not all pay points are populated and progression to the next pay point has always been 'automatic' each year, as is the norm in most civil service organisations.
She's had a play around with moving points and removing some of the minima, but wondered if anyone knows of a best practice paper, or perhaps guidelines on how best to achieve this please? |

Hi Paul,
I'm not aware of a best practice paper relating to this specific topic, but it is an interesting project which certainly brings plenty of questions to mind.
Is this a cost saving exercise? Is there a local union to consult? Are the top or bottom points to be removed? And so on....
I would be happy to have a brief chat with your reader if they care to contact me at adam@innectogroup.co.uk.
